Gather with your family and friends and come build you OWN Wonder of Sand! There are tons of prizes to be won and registration is completely FREE!!!

COMPETITIVE CATEGORY
Registration must be completed by July 3rd 2008


Family: open to kids of all ages from 0 to 99!
From 8am to 4pm on Sunday (eight hours of carving)
Four to six team members.
A maximum of two adults and a minimum of two children are required.

Amateur: 16 years of age and over
From Noon to 4pm on Saturday and from 8am to 4pm on Sunday (12 hours of carving)
A maximum of four team members.

PARTICIPATION SECTION
Registration July 5th and 6th 2008 in the morning

Children (7 to 11 years of age)
Saturday or Sunday from 10am to 4pm
Six team members.

Award ceremony
The award ceremony will take place Sunday July 6th 2008 at 4:30pm.

Judging
A professional jury consisted of three (3) members will determine the marking: technical merit (40 points), artistic impression (40 points) and general appreciation (20 points).

  • Rules and regulations of the competition

    1. The sculpture must be inspired by a theme which will be annonced soon. The sculpture does not necessarily have to be a castle.

    2. Wonders of Sand competition is open to Canadian citizens only.

    3. It is strongly recommended to submit a drawing or layout of your creation at the time of registration. It will be used by the judges to determine if your work was faithful to the initial design.

    4. Only members that have registered are allowed to participate in sculpting. The sculptors must remain the same from start to finish.

    5. The location of each team’s sculpting site on the beach will be assigned according to the order of registration.

    6. Water and sand are the only building materials allowed. Shapes made of wood, plastic or any other material may be used during the sand compacting phase, but no support structure or props may be used in the final work.

    7. The organizing committee will supply the following equipment: two round 20 L and two round 5 L bottomless plastic containers as well as one round 20 L container (with bottom).

    8. All disputes concerning the competition, its rules and regulations or the jury’s final decision shall be settled by the organizing committee, whose decision shall be final.

    9. By accepting the prizes awarded, the participants authorize the use and publication of their name and pictures and abandon all rights and privileges over the title.


    Note: The organizing committee reserves the right to change the schedule and/or the number of hours allowed to complete the sculptures according to the weather conditions or any unforeseen event.
