Volunteering

Experience Wonders of Sand in a whole new way by lending a hand as a volunteer!

In exchange for you collaboration, you’ll receive :

• Free access to the site during Wonders of Sand;
• The volunteer’s official t-shirt and/or accessories;
• A light lunch (Conditions apply);
• An invitation to the volunteer’s « Thank You Party »;
• A confirmation of your participation (Official certificate).

Your responsibilities

• You must attend all information sessions and volunteer for a minimum of 14 hours to qualify for an invitation to the volunteers’ “Thank You Party”. Your team supervisor will contact you to give you the details regarding of you schedule and your training.
• You must fill out, sign and return you registration form by email, fax, mail or by dropping it off in person. Once we’ve received it, a member of our team will contact you to confirm the information given and to confirm your team assignation, as well as your supervisor’s name.
• You must inform your supervisor directly or via the WofS office of any changes (delays, absence or other) to your schedule
• You must respect the dress code inforced by the event. The official t-shirt and promotional objects selected to represent the annual theme must be worn at all time.
• You must act responsibly and respectfully towards any and all individuals (visitors, partners, sponsors, organizers, other volunteers) you come in contact with during the event.
• You must report to your supervisor or his/her assistant immediately upon you arrival on site. He / She will be responsible for supplying you with the event’s uniform/accessories, as well as your daily lunch ticket.
• You must help the organizing committee to keep the WofS site clean and functional.
• You must always accept to help any individual requesting information or needing special assistance, or accept to redirect special requests to the Information / Special Services Tent.
• You must inform you supervisor and/or any member of our Customer Service Team, who can be found under the Information / Special Services Tent) of any and all comments or suggestions made by visitors to help with the improvement of services provided during the event. You can either bring a pad and pen, or ask for some, to help you keep track of your notes. You can also send your comments to us via email.
• Please take note that the WofS organization cannot be held responsible for any theft, damage or loss to personal items occurred during your time volunteering with us.

Because of the vast majority of the clientele served during WofS, participants who wish to become volunteers of the event must be able to communicate effectively in French.

Volunteering Teams

You can take part in the success of the Wonders of Sand by volunteering in one of the following teams:

Support team : Providing help to the local and professionnal sculptors (welcoming, providing supplies and water, giving instructions, overall supervision of the different contests), providing help to the different performers (welcoming, providing supplies, managing access to special areas), providing help for the different activities offered on site (control of access to the inflatable structures, etc.)

Ticket Sales : Sell admission bracelets at the main entrance of the site or via the different other access point, respond to information requests, direct visitors.

Parking and Traffic Controlers: Manage and direct vehicules in the 3 reserved parking areas, assist and help direct the WofS Shuttle Service, help control traffic flow on site.

Information / Special Services : Respond to information or special requests, note any and all comments made by visitors and/or other collaborators (volunteers, vendors, etc.).

Media : Prepare and manage the Media Area, welcome and inform visiting journalists and crews, confirm and manage interview requests, act as an event ambassador.

Recycling : Insure right usage of recycling bins and barrels, promote recycling with visitors and collaborators, separate materials (if needed).

Security : Insure that site guidelines and rules are respected at all time.

Volunteer Services : Insure hosting and assignment of volunteers tasks for the day/weekend, insure distribution of t-shirts, insure distribution and collection of promotional items, assist in management of Volunteer Services (water, food, etc.)

Thank You Party

In recognition of your efforts, a “Thank You Party” will be held in the weeks after the event. Details of the party will be sent to you via your supervisor.
